What is a Building Approval Plan?
Building approval plans are detailed architectural and engineering documents that show how a proposed building will look, function, and comply with safety, structural, plumbing, and fire regulations before construction begins.
How Do I Obtain This Document?
- If your project went through Council (DA/CC) → the plans and approval documents are lodged with Council.
- Find your Council’s DA Tracker. Google search: “[Your Council Name] DA Tracker”, e.g. Fairfield Council DA Tracker
- Once inside the tracker:
- Enter your street address, lot/DP, or DA number if you have it.
- Click Search / View.
- View Application Details. You’ll see a list of applications for your property. Select the relevant Development Application (DA), Construction Certificate (CC), or Complying Development (CDC).
- After selecting the application, navigate to the Documents, Attachments, or Plans tab. That's where approved plans - like site plans, floor plans, elevations, and consent conditions - are usually available for download.
- Alternatively, if you are unable to find the documents, contact your Local Council’s planning/building department
