Let's start on your compliance items
You are now ready to start working on your owner builder compliance items. This is part of getting you ready for construction, and it will ensure you and your project are approved to owner build.
We will step you through the requirements for officially becoming an owner builder. The first one is ensuring you complete an owner builder course.

What is the Owner Builder Course?
The Owner Builder Course in Victoria is a mandatory training program that teaches you the legal, safety, and management responsibilities of taking on a domestic building project as an Owner Builder. The course must be delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and includes key safety units.
Why is this Needed?
You must complete this course if you're applying for an Owner Builder Certificate of Consent from the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) for any project valued over $16,000.
It ensures you understand your obligations under Victorian building law, including health and safety, supervision, insurance, and compliance.
