What is a Gas Connection?
A Gas Connection is the process of reconnecting or installing a new gas service and meter at your property so that gas can be supplied to your home. This is usually arranged near the end of the build, once appliances like cooktops, hot water systems, and heating are ready for installation and use.

Why is it needed?
Gas must be professionally connected to ensure it is safe, compliant, and metered correctly. Without a formal connection, your gas appliances won’t function and you may not meet your final inspection or Occupancy Permit requirements. It also ensures your usage is properly billed under your name and account.
How it works
- Identify your gas provider — check your last bill (if reconnecting)
- Contact the provider by phone, email, or online form to request a connection.
- Provide key details — including your site address, NMI (if known), access instructions, and a preferred date for works.
- The provider will schedule and complete the meter install or reconnection.
- Once gas is connected, mark this task as complete in Build Buddy.
