Now that you’ve engaged a service provider (or “Pro”) for this part of your project, it’s time to take a more hands-on role in managing the process. Don’t worry — Build Buddy is here to guide you every step of the way.
This stage is all about keeping things moving, staying organised, and making sure the Pro has what they need to complete the work on time and to the right standard.
What You Should Be Doing

Stay in touch with your Pro
Communication is key! Be responsive and keep things clear. If they need more info or clarification, you may receive a RFI (Request for Information) — respond promptly to avoid delays.

Schedule and track progress
Ask for estimated timeframes and keep an eye on delivery dates.

Complete your quality checklist
Use your scope of works and the quality assurance checklist for this task to make sure everything is being done to spec and in line with your goals.

Manage payments
If you’ve agreed on milestone payments or deposits, check the payments tab in this task for anything due. Always confirm work is completed before making any final payments.
How to Complete this Task?

STEP 1
Your
Pro will click “Start Job” on their app. The status of this task will automatically change to
‘Work In Progress’.

STEP 2
When works are complete, the
Pro will tap “Request Review” in their app.

STEP 3
You’ll then see two buttons appear: ‘Failed QA’ and ‘Works Complete’.
- Use your quality assurance checklist to inspect the works.
- If anything isn’t up to standard, use the ‘Failed QA’ option and record defects to track what needs to be fixed.
- Once everything’s been addressed and you're happy with the result, click
‘Works Complete’.
If you have DIY'd this task
If you are not engaging with a Pro via Build Buddy for this task, you will be responsible for marking this task as started and completed.
Tips for Working with a Pro

Be upfront, but respectful
It's okay to ask questions. You’re not expected to know everything — just be clear about what you need, and don’t be afraid to ask for clarification.

Write things down
Whether it’s notes from a phone call, decisions made over email, or messages via Build Buddy — make sure to keep a written record of anything agreed verbally. It’ll help keep things professional and avoid confusion later.

Be available, but set boundaries
Make sure your Pro can reach you when needed, but don’t feel pressured to respond immediately outside reasonable hours.

Trust your gut
If something feels off, speak up early. It’s easier to address small concerns now than fix bigger issues later.
