What is a Staircase Appointment?

A Staircase Appointment is a design consultation with your supplier or installer where you finalise all details related to your staircase — including the layout, materials, balustrade type, tread design, and finishes. This step ensures the design is both functional and visually aligned with your home.

Why is this Needed?

Your staircase design must:

  • Comply with the National Construction Code (NCC) and safety standards
  • Fit your floor plan, ceiling height, and space constraints
  • Be finalised for accurate quoting, fabrication, and installation timelines
  • Reflect your overall interior style and finish preferences

How it Works

1. Confirm your supplier. Contact the Expert Guidance and Support team to confirm which staircase vendor is assigned to your project.

2. Book your appointment:

  • Visit the supplier’s website or call their customer service team
  • Look for an option like “Book Design Appointment” or “Schedule Consultation”
  • Fill in your details and any project-specific notes

3. Prepare for your appointment. Bring or have access to:

  • Your floor plans or internal layout
  • Ceiling heights and floor-to-floor measurements (if not already provided)
  • Any reference photos or style preferences
  • Builder or developer guidelines (if any stair layout rules apply)

4. Attend your design appointment:

  • Finalise the stair configuration (e.g. straight, L-shape, U-shape)
  • Choose materials (e.g. timber, steel, glass)
  • Select tread profiles, riser types, balustrade designs, and finishes
  • Ask about slip ratings, lead times, and installation requirements

5. Lock in your selections. Record product names and finishes
