What is an Electricity Connection?
An Electricity Connection is the process of reconnecting or installing electricity supply to your property so that power is available during or after construction. This typically includes installing a temporary or permanent meter, connecting to the grid, and activating the supply with your electricity provider.

Why is this Needed?
Electricity is essential to power tools, appliances, lighting, and heating/cooling systems during and after construction. Without a connection, your trades can’t work effectively, and your Occupancy Permit may be delayed. It also ensures that electricity usage is properly metered and billed.
How it Works
1. Identify your electricity provider — refer to your contract, previous bills, or ask your electrician
2. Contact the provider directly via phone, email, or their online connection form
3. Request a new connection or reconnection and provide:
- Your site address and National Meter Identifier (NMI), if known
- Meter type (temporary or permanent) and access instructions
- A preferred connection date
4. Your provider will schedule the connection — most take 5–10 business days
5. Once power is connected and live, mark this task as complete in Build Buddy
