What is a Final Construction Drawing?

  1. Prepare your documents: final construction drawings, engineering, energy rating, title, and any planning permit (if required). 
  2. Appoint a private building surveyor. Research and choose a registered private surveyor, or ask council to allocate one. 
  3. Lodge your application. Submit your plans and documents to the surveyor. 
  4. The surveyor checks compliance with building regulations and may request changes or extra reports. 
  5. Once everything complies, the surveyor issues your Building Permit, giving you legal approval to start work. 

How Do I Obtain This Document?

  1. Prepare your property address, lot/plan number, and the year of the project. 
  2. Call or email your building designer and share these details with them. Request the final endorsed plans. Ask specifically for the final construction drawings submitted for your Building Permit
  3. They may send you a PDF or provide printed copies (sometimes for a small admin fee).
